SAINTS fans are split on who they want to come in and replace sacked manager Russell Martin, as the club continues to sound out potential options.

Sheffield Wednesday's Danny Rohl and former Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand are among the bookies' favourites but such markets are not always right.

Sport Republic would also prefer a manager to come in for the long term rather than a quick-fix punt in an attempt to stay in the Premier League.

They would like any new boss to have a clear and recognisable style of play and be able to work with the foundations laid by Jason Wilcox and Martin.

But who do the fans want? Plenty have been having their say on our forums and on social media platforms as the search enters a second day.

On the Daily Echo website, in response to our managerial shortlist, saintmary said: "Potter knows the game and plays great football.

AndyT in Salt Lake City, USA: "My preferred pick is Potter, but I just can't see it happening for obvious reasons. So why not go with Danny Rohl?

Saints4life82: "I see Danny Rohl is the big early favourite. I suggested him a while back and would be pleased if he was appointed."

Osrav: "Get real if you think any PL manager will make the switch to the club in its current state or Graham Potter will bother with this relegation in his CV."

StevenAus: "Danny Rohl would be good."

theproblemwithsquirrels: "Corberan has done a great job at WBA but he would be expensive as he has been tied down by a long-term contract."

Only Saints: "I’d offer the job to Potter - we’ve tried the inexperienced option far too many times and been disappointed."

Crossley Place Saint: "I have put £50 on Kaspar Hjulmand at 14/1. He is Danish, so will appeal to his compatriot Rasmus."

mike SFC1976: "Just get a proven premier manager and stop this gamble on young inexperienced manager or manager based on statistics."
