'Really frustrating' - Liverpool legend hits out at both Mohamed Salah and Arsenal
Mohamed Salah endured a rare off-day in front of goal during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night. The Egyptian recorded a match-high six shots at the City Ground, but was unable to find a way past Matz Sels.
Drawing a blank in front of goal, it marked only the third time in the Premier League this season that the 32-year-old has failed to record either a goal or an assist.
He is still leading the way in the race for both the Golden Boot and Playmaker award with 18 goals and 13 assists in the English top-flight.

Meanwhile, he has returned 21 goals and 17 assists from just 29 appearances in all competitions and is on track to enjoy one of the most fruitful individual seasons of his career.
But that is not enough for some people. After Salah toiled in front of goal against Forest, he came in from criticism from Steve Nicol as the Liverpool legend aired his frustration with the forward and questioned his consistency.
“Salah’s really frustrating,” he insisted on ESPN FC. “I mean, he really is. It’s kind of feast or famine with him.
“He either stands on it, miscontrols it, gives it away; and then the next minute, he sticks it in the top corner. That’s generally what he does.
“Unfortunately today, the couple of attempts he had weren’t quite in the corner, and for one in particular Sels made a great save.
“As great as he is, as a genius as he is, he can be so frustrating.”
Meanwhile, Nicol believes Liverpool remain favourites for the Premier League title despite dropping points against Forest, Manchester United, Fulham and Newcastle United in their last seven league games. But rather than such a belief being the result of his faith in his former club’s abilities, he admitted it was instead due to the ‘incapabilities’ of their rivals.
“When you don’t get the points you deserve after dominating the way they did, they’d have expected to win the game,” he said. “I’m not confident Arsenal are going to go on a ten or 11-game winning streak.
“I’m not confident Forest are going to continue to win playing the way they do. The rest are just too far behind, so figure that one out whether I’m confident because of Liverpool and because the rest are not capable.”
