'A really good kid' - Greaves and McKenna praise new signing Enciso
Ipswich Town star Jacob Greaves and boss Kieran McKenna both praised new signing Julio Enciso after his lively debut off the bench in the defeat at Liverpool.
The Paraguayan forward only came on in the 79th minute, but certainly made an impact, firstly clattering into Wataru Endo and then providing a perfect corner delivery from which Greaves headed a late consolation for the Blues.
And Greaves said he likes the look of the 20-year-old Brighton loanee.
"I’ve only seen him for two days, but I’ve seen a little bit of him in training," he revealed. "I saw the goal he scored against Man City, which I think was nominated for the Puskas Award.
"He seems a really good kid. He hasn’t got amazing English so I’ll have to try and learn a bit of Spanish.
"Hopefully he can help us for the rest of the season."
Boss McKenna also praised his cameo, plus that of the two other subs who came on with him - George Hirst and Nathan Broadhead.
"Julio, Nathan and George all had a positive impact when they came on, to be fair," said McKenna.
"They gave us fresh energy and different qualities. George could have scored with the header from Conor's (Townsend) cross.
"There was a terrific delivery for the goal from Julio and some terrific moments from Nathan.
"That's what we said we're going to need. We needed to add more quality and depth to the squad and to the forward positions.
"I think Jaden (Philogene) showed some real good qualities today, Julio showed them off the bench.
"I think we're going to be stronger in that position in the second half of the season."
