Referee appointed for Hornets' clash with Blades
A referee is set to take charge of a Championship fixture involving Watford for the first time this season tomorrow when the Hornets bid to get back on track after consecutive defeats.
The EFL website has stated that David Webb has been appointed as the man in the middle for the game against Sheffield United at Vicarage Road.
Although the Lancashire official has not refereed a league game involving the Hornets since the 2-2 draw against Leeds United last March, he was in charge for the 2-1 defeat at Manchester City in the Carabao Cup in September.
That is one of 15 league and cup matches Webb has refereed so far this season during which he has issued a total of 42 yellow cards and no reds.
Rob Smith and George Byrne are due to be the assistant referees for the 3pm kick off against former Watford boss Chris Wilder’s promotion-chasing Blades, with James Linington on fourth official duties.
