Carlisle United fans gave us their views on X after the 1-0 defeat at Harrogate Town - here's a selection of their comments.

An awful game of football by two poor sides. The ball spent so much time in the air or bouncing around making it a scrappy affair. Our lack of attacking quality is clearly apparent. We just needed to get out with a point but that sums up where we are. It's a brutal way to lose. (@BenJoesph0157)

We are a team with no goals in it. Those teams usually go down. And we’ll go down. The January transfer window was an absolute horror show. (@TimLarge14)

Terrible performance, set up was all wrong, 5 at the back and 1 up front hasn’t worked all season why is today going to be any different? We have to win games not avoid defeat. Embleton and Whelan completely anonymous and we offered no attacking threat.. absolute garbage (@Wisey6575)

Not happy with it but takes two to tango and Harrogate made it the polar opposite to our game v Walsall. Small pitch, we over hit it in the first half..a lot, booted it up in the air....a lot. Ran around...a lot except in the penalty area where we weren't IN THERE ...a lot (@LindaNi121202)

Why why why go to 3 at the back again? Honestly one of the worst games of football I've ever seen (@cufccraig1983)

If the we-are-going-down sinking feeling started early on in the second half, then their goal was a knife-in-the-gut disemboweling. The silent fury of the away end was almost as loud as their chants of staying up. Are we done? If performances continue like that, we will be. (@EarnThtDanegeld)

A relegation performance, we were all doing cartwheels cos we drew against out of form Walsall. Draws aren’t cutting it, we’re down (@fatflags)

The weakest, softest bunch of lads to ever wear the shirt. (@buzzisbackCUFC)

This was actually better than the Barrow performance but again why are our only chances coming from set pieces? Movement is totally shocking, players standing wide waiting for the ball...get in around your full back and make [them] defend. (@MichaelNig75320)

Two really poor teams and a terrible game of football. Result sums this team up, I don’t see any players that r up for the fight, they’re not bothered, should b ashamed to pick up a wage. We r definitely down after that today, Williamson and recruitment to blame (@Norther42188430)

1 step forward two steps back we are going down (@karl72465)

I don’t recall testing their keeper, say no more (@W1seman1994)

Relegation (@James220203)

Hughes asked for a defeat by changing to five at the back. Performances have been excellent with four at the back recently, sticking with five defenders for the whole game meant we were overrun in midfield and created next to nothing in a game we should've won. Awful management. (@Piglet_Phoenix)

We are close to needing snookers now. (@johnstone_mikey)

Gutless shambles, some players should be hanging their heads in shame after this performance. OK we missed some reasonable chances but most of the game it was just not good enough and this capitulation today has just about written us off for EFL survival (@peterjo91525330)

The back 3 and Breeze were the only guys to turn up today, everyone else was just hiding, no one showing for the ball and far too much wayward passing (@A_HonchoYT)

Spineless. Simple as that not one of them fit to wear the shirt (@james_cufc2000)

Down....all on our owners sorry to say Mike Williamson the worst managerial appointment in CUFC history (@ColinGr22048599)

Absolutely gutless.. can't blame the manager for that... be more passion and heart on the sheepmount tomorrow... happy to pick up wages and put in a poor effort.. feel sorry for the owners!! (@BrianTh24972687)
