'Remarkable achievements': Swimming club praised at awards event
Wycombe District Swimming Club was praised for its 'remarkable achievements' at its annual awards event.
The club, which has 700 members, took part in 36 competitions in 2024 and was crowned the best in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire for the 11th year in a row.
MP Emma Reynolds attended the awards event on Friday, January 17, at the Wycombe Swan to present the trophies.
She said: "As a keen swimmer, I enjoyed presenting trophies at the Wycombe District Swimming Club’s annual awards event at the Wycombe Swan.
"The club has an impressive 700 swimmers and took part in 36 competitions in 2024, coming top in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire for the 11th year running.
"I was impressed by the Wycombe swimmers who are competing in the British Down Syndrome Swimming Championships and the GB Deaf Swimming Championships.
"Congratulations to all Wycombe District Swimming Club's staff, volunteers, and swimmers on their remarkable achievements."
The club is one of the leading clubs in the UK, with former members including Olympic freestyle relay gold medallist Kieran Bird.
