Rhian Wilkinson names Wales squad for Nations League openers as Crystal Palace star returns
Rhian Wilkinson has named her squad for Wales' games against Italy and Sweden in their Nations League campaign, with Elise Hughes and Esther Morgan returning after long-term injuries.
The team will be boosted by Elise Hughes' return from an ACL injury after she made a substitute appearance for Crystal Palace on Sunday to mark her return to action. Esther Morgan is also back having recovered from an ankle ligament injury and fresh from a move to Sheffield United in the January transfer window.
Wales will however be without Rachel Rowe due to injury and Chelsea's Sophie Ingle as she recovers from her ACL injury. The games are the team's first since they qualified for this summer's European Championships following a dramatic 3-2 aggregate win over the Republic of Ireland at the start of December, and will be their first in League A of the Nations League.

Also hoping to win their first cap are Ellen Jones and Scarlett Hill, with the latter receiving her first call-up to the senior squad. Sign up to the Don't Take Me Home newsletter here.
In the January transfer window defender Hayley Ladd left Manchester United for Everton having been at the club for five and a half years. Wales' first-choice goalkeeper Olivia Clark also moved, leaving FC Twente for Leicester, making her debut against Manchester City last Sunday.
Wales won promotion to League A after qualifying for this summer's tournament and are in Group 4 with Denmark, Italy and Sweden. Wales play Italy in Monza on Friday, February 21, before welcoming Sweden to StōK Cae Ras, on Tuesday, February 25.
