Ricardo Pereira appears to have taken a stride in his injury recovery after a social media post showed the Leicester City right-back in boots at Seagrave.

On the sidelines since undergoing hamstring surgery in November, Ricardo may now be back on the grass at City’s training ground. He posted a picture to Instagram of himself in football boots on Monday, suggesting he has now graduated out of the gym and is stepping up his rehab.

He will require plenty of time on the training ground to get up to speed though. Earlier this month, City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy confirmed that Ricardo’s original schedule of a March return remained accurate.

Winger Abdul Fatawu also took to social media on Monday, posting a video of his two months of recovery from an ACL injury. The Ghanaian is very unlikely to play again this season.

But City’s other two injury absentees are nearing a return, with updates expected on both. Last week, van Nistelrooy said he hoped to welcome Wilfred Ndidi back into team training ahead of the trip to Everton. The Nigerian midfielder has been out with a hamstring issue since hobbling off in van Nistelrooy’s second game, the 2-2 draw with Brighton.

Number one Mads Hermansen has been out with a groin injury for more than a month. Van Nistelrooy said he hoped to be able to give a clearer indication of the Dane’s scheduled return this week. The manager will next speak to the media on Thursday afternoon.
