What Richarlison did to Pape Matar Sarr after Lucas Bergvall Tottenham goal vs Liverpool
The noise inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday evening was something else when Lucas Bergvall found the back of the net. Making an intelligent run into the box after some great attacking play from Dominic Solanke to get the better of Ibrahima Konate, Bergvall finished in style with a first-time strike that left Alisson with little chance in goal.
Immediately sprinting over to the far corner of the stadium and doing a knee slide, the Swede was soon joined by his jubilant teammates as he capped off a remarkable performance with his first goal for the club. Tottenham fans haven't had a lot to shout about recently due to the team's poor run of form, but Bergvall's goal was definitely something to treasure in such a difficult period for Ange Postecoglou and the club.
Having to make do without some experienced players in recent months, coupled with James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr's suspension for the first leg, Spurs had a number of players watching on from just next to the dugout at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In video footage released by the club, you could just see how much Bergvall's goal meant to those missing out.

Richarlison's passion was certainly on show as he could be seen jumping for joy, waving his arms about and shouting at the top of his voice after Tottenham had made the crucial breakthrough in the 85th minute. The Brazilian and Sarr clearly sensed a big moment was coming as footage showed them rising to their feet just as Solanke used his strength to knock his opponent off balance before putting the ball on a plate for his teammate to finish off.
Amid the celebrations, Richarlison could be seen jumping on top of Sarr, hugging him, pulling his hood and even slapping his head. Other absent players spotted celebrating the goal included Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie and Wilson Odobert.
A few of those players will be hoping to be involved in the return leg at Anfield on Thursday, February 6 as Tottenham target a place in the final the following month. Back in front of the media on Friday afternoon, Postecoglou was asked about the win and stated that it was a reward for his players following a really tough time of late.
"Yeah, yeah, I mean I don't know about proof, but I think reward is important," he said. "I don't think one win changes anything, but we've been through a pretty tough time and as I said, all along not through the want of trying and I mean I can't commend the players highly enough in terms of their efforts.
"They've been giving their maximum every week, but obviously without the ultimate reward, and I said after the game, the players, the staff who are doing everything in their power to change our fortunes and our supporters have obviously had to ride through that as well.
"So just that feeling you get after a win and like you said a significant win against a top team and in a pretty pivotal game for us in terms of keeping our hopes alive of making a cup final. It was important and that kind of stuff sort of fuels hopefully what's ahead."
