Rio Ferdinand shares Alejandro Garnacho Manchester United transfer theory amid Chelsea links
Rio Ferdinand has shared his belief that Alejandro Garnacho is not initiating his potential departure from Manchester United.
The Argentine winger has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford as United look to improve their PSR position. Garnacho's homegrown status means that a sale would represent pure profit for the Reds, strengthening their ability to make new additions in January and the summer.
Two other academy graduates, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, have been linked with moves away, although Rashford's departure appears more likely. The forward has not played since a 2-1 win at Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on December 12.

And with Garnacho also facing an uncertain future at M16, Ferdinand has shared a theory over what may be fueling speculation over his departure. The 20-year-old played well during Thursday night's 2-1 win over Rangers and received a warm reception from the Old Trafford crowd.
“I think they [the fans] were making their feelings very clear," he told TNT Sports post-match. "They were singing his name and that was a sign of what they feel about him. They love him here, they talk about him, they sing about him often.
“One thing he does give you is he gets you on the edge of your seat - he’s exciting. He’s the one player that actually runs without the ball. He’s always very direct.
“I think the system is the one thing that goes against him. [Ruben] Amorim doesn’t play without an out-and-out wide winger, he wants his wingers to play inside the pitch and start inside the pitch. That’s not natural for Garnacho.
“I don’t think you see the best of him from those inside areas. Starting wide, coming in, drifting. That will be one of the main factors that goes against Garnacho staying at the football club, and why they may listen to offers for him. There is no doubting this kid has got huge ability.
“I don’t think he is the one initiating this move. He isn’t the one going ‘I want to leave’. He’s the one going ’you want me to leave? You’re listening to offers? Well, if that’s the case I will start talking. I think that’s the situation.”
