'Rob would be a fantastic owner for Reading', says Wycombe Wanderers legend
Wycombe Wanderers legend Joe Jacobson has spoken out on the role he had during Rob Couhig's failed takeover of Reading Football Club, still hoping any deal can go through.
A former Wales international who made 400 appearances for the Chairboys, Jacobson was a regular at Bearwood during Mr Couhig's attempted takeover of the club and was expected to take a role following the completion of the deal.
Despite the belief that the deal to buy from Dai Yongge was going through, with both Jacobson and Mr Couhig adamant it was all-but done, Yongge returned the money lent by Mr Couhig and no further progress was made.
Away from the club, Yongge and Mr Couhig are embroiled in a legal dispute worth tens of millions of pounds, while Jacobson now covers Shrewsbury Town for local radio, another of his former sides.

Under the management of former Wycombe legend Gareth Ainsworth, the relegation-threatened Shrews held Reading to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.
Speaking to BBC Radio Berkshire ahead of the match, Jacobson spoke of his involvement with the Royals in the past 12 months.
"I think it was well-publicised that I was working with Rob Couhig in the early part of the season, through pre-season, spent a lot of time here and came to a lot of the games and at the training ground. I got to meet all the staff and the amazing people that work at the football club.
"It’s a real shame that it didn’t go through with Rob and whether or not that happens in the future, who knows. I’m hoping so because Rob would be a fantastic owner for this football club and the potential, where this club should be, you want it given back to the fans in a way and have something to be proud of again."
Speaking more in-depth on the bid itself, the former full-back added: "I was as shocked as anyone. I was out walking with my wife, and I had a phone call- it hit me for six because from everything we got told, Rob was told and the lawyers were saying, it was pretty much done. They were waiting on a signature.
"Rob thought it was done, I thought it was done, everyone thought it was done. I spent a lot of time with Rob and lawyers who were saying we agreed everything. For some reason, whoever didn’t want to sign off, didn’t sign off and that was off."
"Football's all I've known for 20-odd years... hopefully something comes to fruition very soon" 👀

Despite in the process of attempting to sue Yongge, Mr Couhig has confirmed he would still rather complete the purchase of the club. This is something Jacobson reiterated.
"I think Rob’s still keen but whether it’s still possible or not is probably out of Rob’s hands a little bit. I know he has not given up on it, he’s not someone who gives up easily. I keep telling him he can relax into the American countryside with his pool and forget about it but once he gets stuck into something, he really wants to make a difference and take the club forward.
"I don’t think there’s been any progress recently but at the minute there doesn’t seem to be progress anywhere. I follow the social media and it’s difficult for the club to put out statements where there’s not a lot to say. I just really hope, for everyone here involved, whether it’s Rob or someone else, that they take it and keep hold of some of the fantastic young players. If you do that, you have a great core squad."
