Rob McElhenney reveals secret behind his relationship with Ryan Reynolds and Wrexham success
Rob McElhenney has revealed the secret to his success as Wrexham's co-owner alongside Ryan Reynolds.
The Red Dragons have enjoyed a meteoric rise since the two actors bought the club in February 2021, achieving back-to-back promotions under manager Phil Parkinson.
Now battling at the top of League One, the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator has opened up about his close friendship with the Deadpool star.

The pair had never met in person when McElhenney first approached Reynolds about the idea of buying the then-National League side in 2020.
However, four years later they have formed a tight bond as their investment has helped take Wrexham from non-league to the third tier of the EFL, attracting global attention.
They also expanded their joint business empire in October by acquiring a majority stake in the city's historic Wrexham Lager brewery.
Discussing their partnership, McElhenney told Forbes: “I think we just see the world in a very similar way and we see investment in a similar way, both economic and emotional.
“We both try to listen before we talk. Generally, as a rule, we will walk into a room and be okay being the dumbest people in the room, trying to learn as much as we can - especially, in a sport we don't know and in a part of the world that we've not spent a lot of time.
“So, because of that, we have similar worldviews and because we just genuinely enjoy each other's company.”
McElhenney was speaking at a live screening of Wrexham's game against Barnsley at the Cosm immersive reality venue in Inglewood, Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The 47-year-old and his Always Sunny castmate Danny Devito were involved in wild celebrations after a 92nd minute winner from Ollie Rathbone secured a 1-0 victory for his team.
The event was also used to officially launch Wrexham Lager in the United States.
Outlining why he and Reynolds invested in the company, McElhenney said: “Wrexham Lager has been around for a very long time, as has the football club, and we felt like anything that we can do to continue to celebrate and invest in the town, we're going take that opportunity.
“We wanted to put out a product that we really believe in, that we could not only market, but that we would drink, and that when we share it with people, they genuinely enjoy it.”
McElhenney believes his journey with Wrexham has also helped him develop as a person, despite admitting he was previously not interested in football.
He added: “I've become so close with the players, with the staff, with everybody in the town that it just becomes a space for emotional growth.
“I never considered myself a football fan - and now, I have devoted my entire life and a good portion of my business and an exceptional amount of my time and effort into the sport and into the town.”
