WWE legend The Rock has been announced for a stunning return to the ring in the build up to WrestleMania 41.

The Final Boss made the announcement himself on social media and will get pulses racing on this week's Friday Night Smackdown. It was not made clear if Dwayne Johnson would be making a cameo appearance or would take to the WWE canvas himself. But UK fans will get the chance to see the People's Champ in action via Netflix where Smackdown is broadcast every Saturday at 1am UK time.

"Bold and disruptive, Unpredictable and dangerous," wrote The Rock on his X and Instagram accounts. "The Final Boss returns, LIVE on #SmackDown tomorrow at 8ET/7T on @USA Network."

A press release sent out by WWE shortly after confirmed the news. "Strap in," said WWE Chief Content Officer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque. "When The Final Boss shows up at this time of year, the audience knows absolutely anything is possible. Everything could change in an instant."

The Rock appeared during the WWE Raw on Netflix premiere back on January 6. During that show, he praised former rival Cody Rhodes and has teased a WrestleMania 41 appearance ever since. The Rock's last appearance on WWE programming came at the "NXT" New Year's Evil television special on January 7, joining his daughter and "NXT" General Manager Ava backstage.
