Rod Stewart breaks cover after tipsy Celtic TV cameo as rocker can't resist Rangers troll after 'jolly mood' fess up

Tipsy Sir Rod Stewart gatecrashed the TV coverage for Celtic vs Bayern Munich - and the legendary rocker has now revealed he warned producers he was in a "jolly mood' before the cameo

The 80-year-old swanned past the touchline as he interjected himself on a pre-match segment involving Owen Hargreaves and Stiylian Petrov as he spoke to the TNT Sports panel before the 2-1 defeat for Brendan Rodgers' side. He also starred on CBS' coverage and promised to fly Jamie Carragher to watch Celtic - with Sir Rod admitting he had a few drinks after failing to recognise Micah Richards before his appearance on TV and talked up the club he insists is "in his blood".

And the crooner would address his appearance on air speaking to Alan Brazil on talkSPORT. Asked about the appearance before the glamour Champions League clash, he said: "I did warn them beforehand I was in a very, very jolly mood. But you know, I got some great feedback from it. It made everybody laugh."

And while chatting with Celtic diehard Brazil, he couldn't resist sticking the boot into rivals Rangers as he brought up the Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Queen's Park las weekend. Stewart said: “I know when that lovely guy (Queen’s Park goalkeeper Calum Ferrie) saved a penalty me and my son danced around the room, jumped over his sofa, went absolutely beserk!

“But listen, and I’ve said this, we need a strong Rangers, we need the competition, we need a stong Hibs, Hearts, anybody you know because it’s beginning to be absolutely to watch Celtic now. It’s so easy for them so we need some strength up there in opposition.”
