Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers laughed off the Green Brigade's retort to his weekend criticism, saying it is all part of the dance of managing in Glasgow.

Rodgers had admonished a section of the Celtic support after Sunday's win over St Mirren for singing about Kieran Tierney, saying that it was disrespectful to current left back Greg Taylor.

The Green Brigade responded during Wednesday night's victory over Dundee United by dusting off a whole host of songs about former players from Henrik Larsson to Charlie Mulgrew, but Rodgers saw the funny side.

"Aye, just the kit man, he was the only one that missed out I think tonight!" Rodgers laughed.

"It's all part of the dance here isn't it? But listen, my job was to put the best team on the pitch and win consistently and then everyone can smile."

Rodgers was also pleased to see that Taylor himself had been unaffected by the debate that has raged ever since the comments that his manager made, turning in a typically solid performance.

"Yes, he's absolutely fine with it," he said.

"I think it's probably a bigger deal made of it than what it actually was. My observation I made. It's gone now. He was very good in the game as he always is. He's very consistent and had a really good performance."

Celtic toiled a little in the second half of the win over United after hitting the front through Daizen Maeda's first half strike, with the game only being put to bed with seven minutes of regulation time remaining through substitute Reo Hatate's well-taken goal.

After also having a pop at the crowd on Sunday for their lack of patience when their team are forced to play backwards, Rodgers was pleased to see them sticking with their team during that sticky spell.

"The crowd were brilliant," he said.

"They can get a bit edgy. We are a support, bless us, that we fret a wee bit and we worry a wee bit. We can do that.

"But I think it was there. That support was so important. It was fantastic tonight. It was such a cold night to come out and see the team, but the numbers turned up and gave the team a great support.

"That allowed us to push over the line. "
