Rodrigo Bentancur breaks silence after worrying Tottenham injury vs Liverpool
Tottenham Hotspur star Rodrigo Bentancur says he is “all good” following his concerning injury against Liverpool in Wednesday’s 1-0 League Cup semi-final first leg win.
The midfielder required nearly 10 minutes of medical attention on the pitch having landed awkwardly following an attempt at a diving header just a few minutes into the match. The 27-year-old was taken off on a stretcher and initially remained in the dressing room with the medical staff.
A few minutes into half-time, Tottenham released a statement stating Bentancur was conscious and talking as he was taken to hospital to undergo further tests. Bentancur has since released a positive update on his health to quell fears that he had suffered anything overly sinister.

Taking to his Instagram story, he wrote: “All good guys! Thank you for the messages!!! Congratulations [for] the victory boys!!!”
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou admitted the incident had an impact on the Tottenham players for the rest of the game. He disclosed that he believed Bentancur had suffered a head injury.
He told Sky Sports: "It was pretty distressing at the time, seeing him go down like that, for the players. Dealing with adversity, these players just compose themselves and responded to it really well."
And in his press conference, he added: “Obviously it was some sort of head injury, but he was conscious when he was coming off the field. And he's been taken to the hospital for observation. But I'm not really clear on how it happened."
Bentancur had only played twice since returning from a seven-match ban issued in November after being found guilty of using a racist slur when referring to teammate Son Heung-min during an interview last year.
He started both games against Nottingham Forest and Wolves - against whom he scored - before sitting out the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United due to a yellow card accumulation suspension. It is unclear how long he will be sidelined following Wednesday’s injury.
Tottenham, meanwhile, ran out 1-0 victors thanks to Lucas Bergvall’s maiden Spurs goal on 86 minutes. His winner was surrounded in controversy after the midfielder escaped a second yellow card for a challenge on Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas just moments earlier.
