Ange Postecoglou's team rallied after Bentancur's early injury and went on to secure a narrow 1-0 victory, with Lucas Bergvall netting the decisive goal, and the ex-Celtic boss admitted his thoughts during the game were with his player after the incident. Speaking after the match, the Aussie said: "There's nothing too detailed. He was conscious when he came off the field and he’s been taken to hospital for some observations so we’re hoping he’ll be okay.
"It was pretty distressing at the time, seeing him go down like that, for the players. Dealing with adversity, these players just compose themselves and responded to it really well."
Postecoglou eased some of the pressure he has been facing with victory against the runaway Premier League leaders, and hit back when asked about his previous assertion that he always wins a trophy in his second season as his side edged closer to a spot in the Carabao Cup final. He sniped: "People can keep sort of mocking me about it, we will see," before walking away from the camera.
