Tottenham have offer an update on midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur after he was taken off on a stretcher after collapsing on the pitch.

The 27-year-old fell to the ground just six minutes into Wednesday's EFL Cup semi-final first leg against Premier League rivals Liverpool after he attempted to head the ball while unchallenged from a corner. Bentancur was treated on the pitch for around nine minutes and received oxygen before he was replaced by forward Brennan Johnson.

The game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Ange Postecoglou's side was goalless at the time of the clash. At half-time, the London club offer an update on the incident. It read: "We can confirm Rodrigo is conscious, talking and will go to hospital for further checks."
