Ronnie O’Sullivan cruised into another UK Championship final, easily beating Tom Ford 6-1 in York.

O’Sullivan will now have a chance to make history on Sunday, becoming the first player to win seven UK titles, and overtaking Stephen Hendry’s total of triple crown triumphs.

Ford took the opening frame with a break of 66, but O’Sullivan fired in a superb 122 to level. The defending champion edged a scrappy third frame, and then punished Ford for missing a routine red with a break of 71 to move 3-1 up.

It was only a matter of time then, and O’Sullivan soon won the three frames he needed for victory.

O’Sullivan, who first won the UK Championship when he was 17 in 1993, has now reached the final in his last four appearances at the famous old tournament.

“He made a good clearance to go 1-0 up, there was a bit of pressure on me but I responded well,” 43-year-old O’Sullivan said. “I look forward to tomorrow.”
