Rory McIlroy divorce drama to be laid bare in Netflix documentary
The upcoming season of Netflix's Full Swing is set to give viewers an inside look at Rory McIlroy's bombshell divorce saga. The 35-year-old golfer left fans in shock when he filed for divorce from his wife of seven years last May, just days before the PGA Championship.
However, the four-time major champion caused further astonishment one month later when he performed a U-turn, cancelling his divorce from Erica, 37, ahead of the US Open and stating that their 'best future was as a family together. ' The couple are parents to their four-year-old daughter, Poppy.
Now, Northern Ireland star McIlroy is set to open up on this dramatic chapter in his life as the latest instalment of the popular golf documentary series promises to delve into the details. The trailer for the third season, which premieres on February 25, captures the shockwaves of the unexpected news reverberating through the clubhouse and media centre at Valhalla Golf Club during last year's PGA Championship.

"I've struggled with trying to be the best golfer, the best husband, the best dad," McIlroy confesses to the camera.
Just days after, he experienced a crushing defeat at Pinehurst No2, crumbling over the final five holes and losing to Bryson DeChambeau. As the trailer flickers with images of DeChambeau celebrating on the 18th green, it seems Netflix will also be dissecting McIlroy's most recent major disappointment.
McIlroy announced a brief hiatus amid the drama of his US Open meltdown and divorce U-turn, planning to return to the course.

His lawyer, Thomas Sasser, lodged a Notice of Voluntary Dismissal on his behalf at Palm Beach County Courthouse on June 11, following a series of clandestine meetings between him and Erica at their $22m Florida residence over a month, aimed at mending their relationship.
Initially, these discussions centred around co-parenting their daughter Poppy, but they eventually led to a reconciliation, as reported by RSVP Live.
This surprising U-turn occurred less than a month after Erica was handed divorce papers at their marital home in Jupiter, Florida, indicating McIlroy's desire to end their marriage. Addressing the swirling rumours about his personal life, McIlroy issued a statement to The Guardian just two days before the US Open's first round.
"There have been rumours about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumour is a fool's game," he stated. "Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realised that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning."
When the divorce summons arrived for Erica at their expansive mansion, McIlroy was in Kentucky preparing for the PGA Championship. His petition sought shared custody of their daughter and requested a judge to enforce a prenuptial agreement the couple had signed ahead of their 2017 wedding.
