The Norwegian side hit the woodwork four times on Monday evening as they dominated the friendly yet struggled to breach the defence of the impressive Radek Vitek. That was until the 93rd minute when Noah Holm slammed home a deserved winner.

Erik ten Hag was without the bulk of his first-choice squad but still had Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount, Casemiro and Aaron Wan-Bissaka in his starting line-up for what quickly proved a tough assignment against a team midway through their Eliteserien season.

Before we get going, a new addition to the Manchester United staff has just been announced.

Jelle ten Rouwelaar arrives as the new goalkeeping coach, the 43-year-old having previously been on the staff at Ajax, Burnley and NAC Breda where he spent the bulk of his playing career.

He joins Rene Hake and Ruud van Nistelrooy in joining a refreshed backroom team behind Erik ten Hag this summer.

The club activated his release clause and have paid a slightly higher fee of £36.5m, as they are spreading that over three years.

Zirkzee has now completed the move from Bologna, signing a contract through to June 2029 with the option to extend by a further year.
