Rovers have confirmed the signing of Yuri Ribeiro from Braga on a permanent deal until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old becomes the club’s fourth signing of the month after Dion Sanderson, Adam Forshaw and Augustus Kargbo.

His arrival at Ewood Park bolsters John Eustace’s left-back options. Owen Beck, who returned to the starting line-up against Preston North End, had been the only option while Harry Pickering is out injured.

Ribeiro has made 15 appearances this season for Braga, who play in the Portuguese top flight.

The defender already has experience of English football, having spent a couple of years at Nottingham Forest between 2019 and 2021.

He also had a three-year spell at Legia Warsaw in Poland before heading to Braga in the summer.

Meanwhile, we understand that Rovers have explored a deal for Luton Town forward Cauley Woodrow.

The Hatters are open to a potential deal, although it remains to be seen how close an agreement is ahead of tonight’s deadline at 11pm.

Woodrow was left out of the squad against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend amid speculation over his future.

“Cauley’s had lots of transfer interest this week," said manager Matt Bloomfield.

"We've bought Thelo (Aasgaard) in who was going to start in that number 10 option which Cauley can play, and again it just felt the right thing with what’s been going on.

“I think Cauley is an absolute diamond by the way. He’s a proper Luton guy.

“He doesn't want to leave, but he's had some interest this week, so we just felt it was the right thing for him not to be involved today. But if nothing goes through he's part of our group and we’re really happy to have him.”

Woodrow started out at Luton before heading to Fulham, where he made his senior debut and had loan spells at Southend, Burton, Bristol City and Barnsley.

He joined the latter on a permanent basis in 2019 and spent the next three years at Oakwell, ending up with a record of 53 goals in 157 games for the club.

The forward returned to Luton in the summer of 2022 but has only made 15 starts, scoring six goals.

The Hatters have also confirmed the signing of Norwegian striker Lasse Nordas from Tromso this evening.
