Roy Keane has been left far from impressed by Manchester United's first-half performance against Leicester City in the FA Cup. The holders advanced into the fourth round after beating Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on penalties but struggled to lay a glove on the Foxes at Old Trafford on Friday in the opening 45 minutes.

Having lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace last weekend, Ruben Amorim opted to hand Patrick Dorgu his debut after joining in January from Lecce. Despite being a left wing-back, the Dane was deployed on the opposite flank with Diogo Dalot oddly remaining on the left.

Just before half time, with United struggling to impact proceedings, Bobby De Cordova-Reid netted the opening goal after a flowing Leicester attack saw him convert from close-range. That was their third shot on target in the opening 45 minutes with United failing to have one of their own which resulted in Keane labelling them as boring.

Speaking on ITV at the interval, he said: "Shocking. Really, really poor. They're actually boring. You should go in the dressing room and tell the players what the game is about. The game is about putting the ball in the back of the net. And it doesn't look like they're even trying."

Asked about a lack of belief, Keane replied: "There are elements of that. A lack of confidence. We look at the goal and it sums up United.” The United great then continued: “They haven’t even done the basics right. Sloppy in their play. There hasn’t been a reaction tonight. The manager has got to get stuck onto them.”

In an attempt to see an immediate response, Ruben Amorim made the decision to replace Dorgu with Alejandro Garnacho, which saw Amad move to wing-back. The 20-year-old certainly did spring some life into United as it was his cross that eventually fell to Joshua Zirkzee who equalised.
