Roy Keane has weighed in on the impact on Arne Slot's time as Liverpool's head coach so far. The Reds have had a flying start to the season so far after victories against Manchester City and Real Madrid see Slot's side sit at the top of both the Premier League and Champions League tables.

Eyebrows were raised in the summer after Liverpool made just one signing in Federico Chiesa, with many left wondering whether the Reds would be able to compete with City and Arsenal for the title.

Now with 18 wins in all competitions, Slot has received widespread praise for how well he has adapted to life on Merseyside.

Speaking on Sky Sports Super Sunday after Liverpool vs City, Keane shared his verdict on the Reds so far this . "He's a cool guy" said the Irishman. "There was no pressure on Liverpool when he came in because they didn't really spend in the transfer market.

"He said it himself, they wouldn't expect to be so far ahead but their performances, defensively they are outstanding. They've got a good energy about them and the team reflect the manager - there is a calmness to their play.

"Jurgen Klopp was about high-energy football but they do it at the right times. They are cool and calm any team that can finish ahead of Liverpool this season will be doing very, very well."

Keane also lavished the Dutch coach with praise with what he's done with the first-team so far. "Absolutely fantastic, we have to praise the manager and he has done an amazing job,” added Keane. "They were a decent group he took over, whatever he has added to it his personality.

"If you had said at the start of the season Liverpool would be where they are now you wouldn't believe them, you'd think they would need locking up. But their performances, defensively they are very good and their big players are turning up at big occasions.

"No way were Liverpool losing today, absolutely not. And it wasn't just their effort today, they showed great quality. The decision-making in terms of possession was excellent. He's added his personality to it. If you'd have been told that Liverpool would be in the position they are now, you wouldn't believe them."
