Ruben Amorim could promote a number of talented wonderkids into the Manchester United first-team squad. Amorim was appointed as the new United head coach earlier this month and started work on Monday after managing his final game in charge of Sporting CP against Braga on Sunday.

Amorim's first match as United boss is a trip to Ipswich on Sunday, November 24. They then host Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League before facing Everton at Old Trafford. Amorim's first month at the helm is hectic, with United facing no less than 11 fixtures in five weeks after the international break.

Although Amorim is hoping to get the most out of the current senior squad at United, there are a number of players from the coveted Carrington academy that he might call upon. Here, Manchester Evening News take a look at six, in particular, that the Portuguese coach could be tempted to look at.

Chido Obi-Martin is someone that Amorim might look at due to Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both misfiring at the moment. The 16-year-old joined United from Arsenal in September and scored a hat-trick on his first start for the Under 18s against Nottingham Forest last month.

Obi-Martin, born in November 2007, scored in United's 3-0 win against Everton last Saturday and is considered as one of the most highly-rated young strikers in English football. The teenager, who can represent Denmark, England and Nigeria at international level, most recently played for Denmark U18s on Wednesday.

Amir Ibragimov is another that has been tipped to have a successful career at United. The Russian has been on fire for the U18s this season, scoring five times and adding two assists in nine matches from attacking midfield. Born in April 2008, Ibragimov could be handed a chance to impress under new boss Amorim.

Harry Amass was snubbed by both Erik ten Hag and Ruud van Nistelrooy for first-team minutes. The 17-year-old, who impressed during United's pre-season tour in the United States, was backed to have a breakthrough season but the London-born left-back hasn't played once, prompting suggestions that Amorim might use him more.

Shea Lacey has been a shining light in the United academy over recent years and is pushing to be given a chance in the first-team squad. The 17-year-old Liverpool-born winger has one assist in four U18s games this season and last featured in the 6-0 demolition of Forest last month.

Bendito Mantato is considered a rising star in the academy and has continued to go from strength to strength, contributing six goals and one assist in nine appearances this season. The 16-year-old has become a key player in the U18s and recently made a promising appearance from the bench for the Under 21s against Hertha Berlin.

Mantato formerly played at left-back in academy fixtures, but he's gradually progressed to predominantly play on the right wing and his style has led to comparisons with Bukayo Saka, who also started his career as a defender before developing into an attacking player with such talent.

Sekou Kone is the oldest of the players on this list at 18-years-old but he has been backed by many to enjoy a breakthrough spell in the United first-team. Kone, born in February 2006, started the 4-1 defeat at Huddersfield in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday but came off in the 42nd minute due to injury.
