With the January transfer window open for business, Ruben Amorim knows transfer-related questions will be a running theme for the next few weeks.

The window is open until February 3, giving clubs just over three more weeks to add to their squads for the second half of the season. Manchester United do not have a budget for this month's window, meaning any incomings will rest on outgoings.

A cluster of players are being heavily linked with the possibility of leaving Old Trafford, including Marcus Rashford, Joshua Zirkzee, Antony and Casemiro. A number of clubs are understood to be keen on the idea of taking Rashford on loan.

One report elsewhere earlier this week linked Kobbie Mainoo with Chelsea. However, such reports stated that Chelsea have declared interest in him in the event of him not signing a new contract at Old Trafford.

Tied to his current deal until 2027, plus the option of an additional year, there is no chance of Mainoo being extracted from Old Trafford this month. Furthermore, as reported by the Manchester Evening News, Mainoo wants to stay at United.

United opened contract talks with the England international in March last year and negotiations were heading in the right direction before stalling, sparking uncertainty over his future.

United need to remain mindful of Profit and Sustainability rules [PSR] and any funds generated from selling Mainoo would count as pure profit due to his status as a homegrown player. However, Mainoo has no intentions of leaving, despite his camp believing he is worthy of a better contract offer than what has been made following a sharp rise over the last 18 months or so, which has seen him become a regular starter both club and country.

With Mainoo's future having created plenty of headlines over the last few days, it was inevitable that Amorim would be quizzed on the youngster's future in Friday's pre-Arsenal press conference at Carrington. Asked about Mainoo and his future, the United head coach delivered an emphatic answer.

He said: "Yeah, my players are always my favourites. So I really love my players, I want to keep my players, especially the talented ones. It's a special moment in this club, it's a hard moment, I am really happy with Kobbie, he is improving and also with Garna (Alejandro Garnacho)."

Amorim, who is renowned for developing young players, added: "Our idea is always to keep the best players and the players that we build for this club but we know the position the club is in at the moment. We will see. But I'm very happy. I really like the players, especially the guys from the academy."
