Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has vowed the club will "try to do something" in the transfer window.

United have no budget for the winter window and are dependent on selling or loaning players out to reinforce a squad that is languishing in 14th in the Premier League and seven points above the relegation zone.

Marcus Rashford has outlined his desire for a "new challenge" but the United forward has rejected three lucrative offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and has no interest in moving to a Turkish side.

United have lost six of their last eight games and are winless in three in the league, having failed to score against Bournemouth, Wolves and Newcastle.

"Of course, when the window is open we can try to do something and we will try to do something," Amorim assured, "but in the next weeks we are going to have more time to train and we have to improve. That’s the only way because we had a lot of games without training.

"Now we will have more space to grow. You can see the context is worse in the moment because we had a lot of losses, we have to manage everything. The solution is to work hard.

"We cannot change the last game (against Newcastle). We can evaluate it and work on it but we cannot change the last game. So let’s focus on the next one and work hard during the week.

"I will keep that (transfer targets) to myself. We will try to do something."

United will again line up in the 3-4-3 formation that Amorim swears by against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday. Amorim has dismissed calls for him to change his approach and highlighted captain Bruno Fernandes' versatility.

"I adapt all the time," he added. "We played most of the games with three. Bruno sometimes was in a different position but he was in the midfield.

"Sometimes it is not a big difference. I know that people look at the three defenders but I don’t see the game like that. I adapt for every opponent because I think it’s really important.

"No matter the quality of our team, we have to look at the opponent to understand what kind of game we will have. So will do the same, with the same principles. Like I said, we need time."
