Ruben Amorim could be without three Manchester United midfielders for the Premier League clash away at Tottenham. United have won five of their last seven games in all competitions but scrutiny has continued with Amorim particularly under fire.

That is mostly because two defeats in that period were both in Premier League action and at home with Spurs able to leapfrog them in the table if they beat United for a third time this season. Amorim has the bulk of his squad available but the long-term absence of Lisandro Martinez because of a knee issue will almost certainly cause issues.

Mason Mount and Luke Shaw meanwhile, remain unavailable with the United boss hinting in his most recent press conference that others could also miss out. "No, was a good week until two days ago," Amorim said. "We had some problems also. So we don’t have players back, maybe we have one or two issues but we are waiting.

"We have one player also who is sick so we will see the team at the weekend. But was good to work with the team, to feel the players and to try to improve our performance." Though Amorim did not reveal those that may be doubts, a new report from the Athletic has named three players that could be absent.

It has been claimed that Kobbie Mainoo is out while midfielders Toby Collyer and Manuel Ugarte are doubtful after picking up issues in training at Carrington. Regardless of the trio's availability, Bruno Fernandes would have almost certainly been deployed in the middle of the park.

One of Casemiro or Christian Eriksen could therefore partner him in the engine room. Injuries are also plaguing Tottenham but Ange Postecoglou is expected to welcome Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Destiny Udogie back into his squad this weekend.

Elsewhere, the likes of Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Dominic Solanke, Richarlison, Radu Dragusin, Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner are all unlikely to feature.
