Manchester United are set to receive a welcomed transfer windfall in the January transfer window thanks to Andreas Pereira's move to Palmeiras.

The Brazilian left United in 2022 after spending 10 years at the club, joining Fulham. Pereira has appeared 100 times for the Cottagers but is expected to leave England this month despite starting 15 of the 19 Premier League games this season.

He was dropped by Marco Silva for the 1-1 draw at Tottenham in December due to 'technical reasons' with speculation linking his absence to an interview in which he labelled a potential move to Marseille as "very cool".

In the summer, Marseille were unsuccessful with an offer worth £20million and it had been reported that Roberto De Zerbi's men would revisit the situation this winter. However, Pereira is now set to return to Brazil following his loan spell with Flamengo in 2021.

TV outlet in Brazil TV Espirto de Porco have claimed that Palmeiras have reached an agreement with Fulham to bring the playmaker to the club for £18.2million, rising to £20.7m. The report also adds that it would be a disaster if Pereira did not move to Sao Paulo and a medical is set to take place in the coming days.

Once the deal is completed, United will receive a minor transfer windfall courtesy of a sell-on clause inserted in the deal when Pereira joined Fulham. A 20% clause is in place meaning the club are in line to receive around £3.6million.

Whilst it's a small figure, it could help Ruben Amorim's ambition to bring in reinforcements in the January transfer window. Players must be offloaded for United to improve the squad, but the windfall from Pereira could help secure a loan deal for Randal Kolo Muani.
