Rubezic red card sees Sky Sports Ref Watch pundits echo Aberdeen fans
Aberdeen fans were left asking why Slobodan Rubezic ran the risk of a red card by clashing heads with Tony Watt in the Dons' 2-0 defeat to Motherwell.
And that was the exact same question posed by pundits on Sky Sports on Monday assessing the big refereeing decisions of last weekend's Scottish Premiership action.
Ewan Wilson's first senior goal put the Reds 1-0 down at Fir Park, with his thunderous strike leaving Jimmy Thelin's trailing in a league clash once again as they looked to prevent a fifth straight defeat.

But an already sizeable task became too big to overcome in a disastrous 60 seconds when Rubezic was sent off by referee Nick Walsh.
Tackled to the ground by Watt, he then rose to his feet and clashed heads with the former Celtic striker while appearing to shove him away as he got back up from the Motherwell turf.

Walsh then brandished the red card, and VAR agreed with the decision, with Tawanda Maswanhise completing the miserable minute with a second goal for the Steelmen from the restart.
It's a result that leaves the Dons winless in 10 games and only four points clear of Stuart Kettlewell's side who currently sit fifth in the table.
And speaking on Sky Sports Ref Watch, former Premier League whistler Dermot Gallagher echoed the thoughts of Aberdeen fans in the wake of the Motherwell defeat by questioning the antics of Rubezic when his side were 1-0 down.
He said: "I think this goes back to something Stephen [Warnock] said earlier in the programme, and has said many many times to me. Why would you give the referee a decision to make?
"When you see the angle, why would you give the referee that decision to make? You're taking such a risk and he's lost so his risk wasn't worth the gamble."
