All Out Rugby League launched as our coverage of the sport to change
Rugby League prides itself on change and forward thinking. That has always been the case throughout an often turbulent 130-year history. Ever since a pivotal and far-reaching 1895 meeting provided the initial spark for our great game.
A game born in the northern heartlands and grown among pit towns, fishing communities and the fabric of industry spanning from the Mersey to the Humber, rugby league in 2025 is much more than the ‘Up and Under’ perception of those BBC Floodlit Trophy days.
This new modern entity bears little resemblance to the way the game used to be played. Now, for the first time at Reach PLC, we’re taking a major step forward in terms of the way the sport is covered and reported on.
Through our Rugby League Live brand we have brought supporters the latest news, analysis, opinion and unrivalled transfer content on our regional websites and in print, while our House of League podcast has become established as one of the go-to shows to hear the very latest on the game.
What we’re now announcing is not just a name change, but the launch of a new brand that will cater for rugby league fans of all ages however they consume their rugby league news. Whether it is on TikTok, Facebook, through a newsletter, watching YouTube, reading a newspaper, listening to a podcast or scrolling the news online on your phone or a tablet, we’ll have you covered with the launch of All Out Rugby League.
Led by a new All Out Rugby League website with its fresh design that we hope will quickly become your bookmark of choice, we’re converting our Rugby League Live and House of League brands under the new name, while adding so much more to our offering, including a weekly studio-based podcast and TV-style rugby league show, a wider range of podcast offerings each week and a new quarterly rugby league newspaper for those who know you can’t beat sitting down with a newspaper in hand and getting stuck into a good read.
Whether you flick through our website, follow us on our new TikTok, X and Facebook pages, or get the news sent straight to your phone through our award-winning WhatsApp initiative or a free newsletter, we’ll have the game you love covered, however you want to access it.
We share your love for the sport. We care about helping to grow it, to push the stories that need telling to the widest possible audience, to hold those in power accountable when necessary, but ultimately, to celebrate the game and its undoubted superstar athletes.
Led by former rugby league reporter and Reach PLC head of sport for Yorkshire and the North East, James Smailes, All Out Rugby League will be driven forward by our rugby league editor Matthew Shaw, the recognised go-to man for news across the game. With a team that also includes the Daily Mirror’s Dave Craven, and established journalists Josh McAllister and Dan Tomlinson, we’ve got the know-how to make sure you never miss a thing and the platforms to make sure you’re in the know.
We'll share links to our new website, social channels and YouTube channel in the coming days and weeks as each goes live. You can see our website holding page here with links to our new 48-page season preview magazine and to sign up to our free newsletter.
