Harry McKirdy is not set for a return to Swindon Town ahead of the January transfer window closing, despite speculation from fans.

The rumour that McKirdy could be about to move to Swindon for the third time began on Thursday night after the Hibernian forward posted three pictures of him playing for Town on his Instagram story.

This led Swindon fans to wonder whether or not this was a hint about his potential return before the transfer window closes on Monday, with him currently out of favour at Hibernian.

The former League Two Team of the Season attacker has only played 96 minutes in the Scottish Premiership all season, with no starts, and is likely to be free to depart.

However, The Adver have spoken to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation and Swindon are not pursuing a second January return to The Nigel Eady County Ground in as many years.

Having already signed two strikers on loan this January and having six players on temporary deals, when only five can feature in a matchday squad, adding another is not in the plans ahead of 11 pm on Monday unless the situation drastically changes.

Hibernian had hoped to move McKirdy on this month but Swindon are not seeking out a deal.
