Ruud van Nistelrooy needs Leicester support after 'don't feel sorry for anybody' admission
Ruud van Nistelrooy needs more support in the transfer market as his spell in charge of Leicester City hit a new low at the weekend.
That is the verdict of Van Nistelrooy's former Manchester United and Netherlands team-mate Jaap Stam who believes he will prove to be a 'great manager with a great philosophy' if that support is given to him.
The Foxes fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to Fulham on Saturday as they fell to a seventh successive defeat in the Premier League. It left Leicester in 19th place in the table and two points adrift of safety.

Only Mick McCarthy (Sunderland), Alan Ball (Manchester City), Jan Siewert (Huddersfield Town) and Paul Jewell (Derby County) have lost more games than Van Nistelrooy in their opening nine Premier League matches and the pressure is beginning to build on the Dutchman.
Van Nistelrooy was hit with chants of 'you don't know what you're doing' from the home supporters when he replaced Bilal El Khannouss in the second half and he admitted the manner of defeat left him hurting.
"Today was extremely disappointing because it wasn't good enough in all aspects of the game," Van Nistelrooy said. "I saw more [in the 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace] Wednesday than today. Of course results hurt and are disappointing, but today there was a lot more because we lacked in too many areas that influence on winning a football match.
"We have to deal with it. We cannot change it. We have to face it. Don't feel sorry for anybody. We are professionals and we have to deal with it. We have to make sure that we perform so the crowd is up and supportive. That's our task."
However, Stam has come to his defence and insists Leicester have to give Van Nistelrooy help in the January transfer market if he is to succeed in the East Midlands.
"It’s been very hard for Ruud van Nistelrooy at Leicester, but we knew that was going to be the case," Stam told BoyleSports, who offer the latest Champions League odds.
"He is a great manager with a great philosophy and they do play some good football, I don’t think they have got the results that they deserve so far.
"You need to look at the squad because to be competitive in the Premier League you need to have a very good squad who can handle the pressure in order to stay up.
"When you bring in a manager like Ruud you need to support him and make sure you make recruitments and make sure the new players have quality. I think they are lacking players that have enough quality and that can stop you staying in the Premier League."
Van Nistelrooy is in his second full time senior managerial role after winning the Dutch Cup during his only season in charge of PSV. He also enjoyed an unbeaten four game spell in interim charge of Manchester United between Erik ten Hag's sacking and Ruben Amorim's appointment.
