Ruud van Nistelrooy next job tipped after emotional Manchester United exit
Ruud van Nistelrooy could, potentially, line up a quick return to football following his exit from Manchester United, with the Dutchman already linked to other jobs.
After four games unbeaten as their interim manager, it was announced earlier this week that the former striker will not be part of Ruben Amorim's backroom staff at Old Trafford. Having joined as assistant manager this summer, that means his short stint back at United has come to an end.
Van Nistelrooy has now responded to his exit with a heartfelt message to the club and supporters. "To everyone at Manchester United Football Club, in particular the backroom staff, the players and fans. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your incredible efforts and support," he wrote on social media.

"It has been a privilege and honour to represent the club as a player, coach and manager, and I will always cherish the memories we have shared together.
"Manchester United will always have a special place in my heart and I hope there are many more glory days at Old Trafford very soon - not only because I want the club to do well, but because you all deserve it!
"All the best and take care, Ruud."
His exit from Old Trafford has prompted speculation over where his next job may be. As recently as this summer, the Dutchman was reported to have held talks with Burnley over their managerial position, there were also some links to newly-promoted Leicester City - before they appointed Steve Cooper.
According to bookmakers SkyBet, Van Nistelrooy is now currently third favourite to take on the vacant manager's position with Championship club Coventry City. The Sky Blues are on the lookout for a new manager following the sacking of former United man Mark Robins.
Frank Lampard is still favourite for the role, right now, with odds of 6/4. England interim manager Lee Carsley is second favourite with odds of 7/4, but Van Nistelrooy is third in the betting with odds of 9/4 to take over at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
His short time as interim manager at United is bound to lead to more interest. The 48-year-old also has manager's experience with Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, leading them to success in the Dutch Cup in his one season in charge.
