DEFENDER Nathan Wood appears to have won the hearts and minds of Saints fans all over with his performances in the last four matches.

The 22 year old summer signing helped Saints to keep only their second Premier League clean sheet of the season in Sunday's 0-0 draw at Fulham.

Alongside Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Jan Bednarek, with Aaron Ramsdale delivering a starring role in net, the defence shut out the Cottagers.

Saints are the first team Marco Silva's side have failed to score past at home this campaign and Wood had also impressed in his previous outings.

His first league start for Saints came in the 5-1 drubbing to Chelsea; a match in which the former England youth ace emerged with individual credit.

Wood then produced a stellar performance in the 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa, before coming off the bench at 3-0 down in the clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Saints signed Wood from Swansea City in the summer for a fee of just £3million after former manager Russell Martin offered £10m in 2023.

Saints fans want the Middlesbrough academy graduate to retain his starting place under new boss Ivan Juric, who penned an 18-month deal on Saturday.
