Saints forward joins Portsmouth on loan for rest of season

SOUTHAMPTON FC Women forward Emma Thompson has joined south coast rivals Portsmouth on loan.

The young forward, 20, has joined the Women’s Championship's bottom side for the remainder of the season.

Thompson has made 11 appearances in all competitions, starting all three Women’s League Cup games but featuring off the bench in the league.

The former Chelsea forward scored a hat-trick against Portsmouth earlier this season in a 4-0 away win.

A statement from Saints added: "We wish Emma all the best for the rest of the season as she departs to gain more minutes in the second half of the campaign, and will continue to monitor her progress."
