This week, Salisbury travelled away to Portsmouth, who sit third in the league and three places above the Men's 1s, writes Matt Salmon.

After the previous few weeks of disappointing results, Salisbury were keen to prove themselves and come away with at least a point against what is a strong and experienced team.

The match started, and Salisbury quickly took advantage with a strong counterattack from Mac Stevenson and Kynon Griffith McCann, who set up Rufus Lyne at the back post to take the lead.

However, the game began to turn in Portsmouth's favour with a series of short corners from which the home side converted to make it 1-1, but Salisbury held out and were on level terms at half time.

The second half began with disorganisation within the ranks of the Portsmouth team.

Salisbury sniffed an opportunity for another goal, but unfortunately, Griffin McCann put the ball just wide of the post.

Salisbury adopted a half-court press, as a result, the home side could find no way through.

Salisbury created some overturn play and more opportunities but could find no further goals.

Rob Goodthwaite picked up a green card late on, but the Men's 1s held on and came away with a much-needed and deserved point to continue their league campaign moving in the right direction.

Sunday saw five juniors represent Wiltshire in a U17 Boys tournament against teams from Cornwall and Avon.

James Sharpe, Nick Llewellyn, Oscar Barnes, Elliot Godden and Bailey Hannaford have been with the Wiltshire squad for a couple of seasons and are integral to the growth of the team.

Unfortunately, Anthony Gallagher couldn't join them due to an injury picked up in the Men's 3s win on Saturday against Chichester.

The strength of the Wiltshire team was evident on Sunday, where they were unbeaten, beating Avon 3-2 with Bailey Hannaford finding the net, and Cornwall 2-0.
