Sam Kerr: Chelsea rocked by a serious knee injury to Australia star
Chelsea Women have been rocked by a serious knee injury to Sam Kerr.
Kerr suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during Chelsea’s warm-weather training camp in Morocco.
Chelsea say the Australia international “will be assessed by a specialist in the coming days and then begin her rehabilitation with the club’s medical team”.
Kerr has scored 99 goals in 128 matches for Chelsea since joining the Blues in 2019.
She has played a pivotal role in four WSL title wins, three FA Cup triumphs and two League Cup successes.
In a statement, Chelsea said: “Chelsea Football Club can confirm striker Sam Kerr has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury during our warm weather training camp in Morocco.
“Sam will be assessed by a specialist in the coming days and then begin her rehabilitation with the club’s medical team.
“Everyone at Chelsea would like to wish Sam the very best for her recovery.”
