Samu Omorodion cleared to leave Atletico Madrid as Chelsea hold £35m transfer talks
Chelsea are in talks to sign Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion.
The move for the 20-year-old is said to be worth around £35million and is separate to the deal which is set to see Conor Gallagher join Atletico for a similar fee.
Chelsea want to sign a new striker and Omorodion has been cleared to leave Atletico after the Spanish giants agreed an £81m deal to sign Julian Alvarez from Manchester City.
Omorodion, who is part of the Spain squad that has reached the Gold medal match at the Olympics in Paris, scored eight goals in 35 La Liga appearances last season on loan at Alaves.
Chelsea also remain interested in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
A deal for Omorodion has been discussed during negotiations between Chelsea and Atletico over Gallagher, who is due in Spain this week to have a medical and finalise his Chelsea exit.
Atletico are also in talks to sign Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra but Chelsea do not expect that deal to impact any move for Gallagher.
Gallagher is poised to sign a five-year contract at Atletico after being convinced to move to Madrid by their manager Diego Simeone and his England team-mate Kieran Trippier, who spent over two seasons at Atletico.
Gallagher is set to be the latest academy graduate to leave Chelsea and the Blues are also trying to offload Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja.
Broja was left out of the Chelsea squad for their 2-1 friendly defeat to Real Madrid in the US on Wednesday.
