Santiago Aldama on Grizzlies' struggles: 'We're just letting teams punk us every single night'
This was the second time since the All-Star break they had given up more than 45 points in the second quarter. After the game Saturday, it was something multiple Grizzlies players made note of as frustration mounts over the defensive effort and intensity. "Energy is not there," forward Santi Aldama said. " . . . I can sit here and just say it's there, but it's not. It's clearly not. We're just letting teams punk us every single night, and then we make up for it and we just hope the coin flips our way. We can't play that way. We're not that team that needs a little bit of luck. We normally set the tone and we haven't been doing that."

What's the buzz on Twitter?
Santi Aldama let it out.
He said the Grizzlies are getting punked. He said they aren't respecting the game. He said they got content.
"We can't play that way. ... It's not acceptable," he said.

After re-signing Santi Aldama (which I’m hearing is a priority), that money can either go toward a renegotiate-and-extend deal for Jaren Jackson Jr. or building out the rest of the roster via exception deals and trades. -via New York Times / February 12, 2025
About the Spanish national team. You said on Media Day that you would like to win Olympic gold in Los Angeles 2028. Do you really think the team has what it takes to achieve that? Santi Aldama: 100%. I mean, that's why we play—for the Olympic gold. There are still almost four years to go, but that's why we take it step by step. And I really believe we can. In the end, we are a super competitive team. It's clear that there is a generational transition happening, but I think that within that process, we have to be as competitive as possible and give our all every day. And I don’t see a reason why we can’t compete for it there. -via Mundo Deportivo / February 6, 2025
