Sasa Zdjelar is the latest name to emerge as a potential Rangers January target, according to a report.

Philippe Clement is in the market to strengthen his squad with new CEO Patrick Stewart due to update the Light Blues faithful on the January plans at any moment. The Belgian boss is suffering a major defensive crisis with Leon Balogun, James Tavernier, John Souttar and Dujon Sterling all sidelined alongside No1 Jack Butland. A host of names like Nikola Katic and Jonny Evans have been namechecked to address that problem area with the newest link also able to operate in that role - although his primarily a defensive midfielder.

Zdjelar is a Serbia international and he is currently plying his trade with CSKA Moscow. But the 29-year-old could be allowed to leave due to FIFA rules over foreign players and Russian clubs due to the war in Ukraine. The Daily Mail report that the Ibrox men have 'asked about his availability' with clubs in Germany also said to be keen. He's featured in 21 games in all competitions so far.

Meanwhile, Pat Nevin reckons Hamza Igamane looks as close to the real deal as what Rangers need at this minute in time. The Moroccan has burst onto the scene after a settling in period in Glasgow. He netted a hat-trick in his last outing against Hibs at Easter Road to take his season tally to an impressive 11 goals in 22 appearances to give a one to two ratio so far.

The in-form forward has admitted it is his dream to play for a 'big club in Europe' and in order to land a move to the English Premier League, Nevin has looked at Kyogo's Celtic record and stated you must deliver in one key area to make the moves a reality. He told Grosvenor Sport: “Hamza Igamane looks the most natural striker that Rangers have had in a long time. He looks close to the real deal of what Rangers need and that’s someone scoring well over 20 goals a season.

“The days of the Ally McCoists are long gone and they need another forward like that, he’s going to score goals and keep on doing it in Scotland. Could he ever play in the Premier League? Looking at the amount of goals Kyogo Furuhashi has scored in Scotland I thought someone was going to take a chance on him but nobody did in the Premier League. That shows you that you need to have numbers off the charts in Scotland to get that sort of interest.”

Elsewhere, it is not only incomings expected at Ibrox but outgoings as well. Cyriel Dessers has found himself down the pecking order due to the form of Igamane and Danilo's return with clubs in France and Italy showing interest and he could leave to raise funds. The likes of Adam Devine and Alex Lowry are also available. Cole McKinnon has already joined Ayr United on loan with Ridvan Yilmaz also in the headlines with clubs in Turkey keen on the full-back.
