Plymouth Argyle have announced that 22-year-old left-back Saxon Earley has returned to the club after his planned season-long loan to League One outfit Lincoln City was cut short.

Earley joined Lincoln at the end of the summer transfer window but he played only three times for them, twice in the EFL Trophy and most recently as a substitute in a 4-0 away win against Chesham in the Emirates FA Cup first round in early November.

With Argyle completing the signing of Poland international left-back Tymoteusz Puchacz last Thursday on loan from German Bundesliga club Holstein Kiel, it seems highly likely they will look to loan out Earley again, and this time hope he gets more game time than he did at Lincoln.

The Pilgrims also have Nathanael Ogbeta who can play at left-back, while Bali Mumba has often played out of position there this season.

An Argyle statement this morning said: "Saxon Earley has returned to Argyle following his loan spell with Lincoln City, and has resumed training with the Greens. Saxon, who joined Argyle in January 2023, and has also spent time on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, played three times for the Imps."

Meanwhile, striker Andre Gray has joined Turkish second division side Fatih Karagumruk after leaving Argyle when his short-term contract with them ended on January 3.
