The scary Lewis Miley message after Newcastle United star gives Eddie Howe headache
Lewis Miley has vowed to return to the Premier League's big stage "even stronger" than his glorious 2023/24 campaign.
Miley was bold enough to drop down to the reserves after returning from a double injury blow in 2024, and it is now paying dividends. The 18-year-old Stanley lad put in a polished performance against Bromley on FA Cup third round day, scoring a goal and having a hand in the two other strikes.
Last term was the dream ticket for Miley as he ticked off a long list of firsts such as his maiden assist, opening Premier League goal and Champions League debut. He also signed a long-term Newcastle deal until 2029.

After overcoming both a back injury last term before an untimely foot issue, suffered while running in the off season, Miley had played just 12 first-team minutes until getting a full game against the Ravens.
Miley told Chronicle Live: "I've been itching to get a start. I think I've come back stronger and better. I'm on the rise now. It is just an unreal feeling for me. Hopefully, I get a lot more games like that."
It's clear that a joint decision from Miley and Eddie Howe to play for the reserves - including a long bus trip to Boston last month - has paid off for the youngster.
He added: "It has been hard. It has been good getting minutes for the reserves and now I just need to get my fitness back. I think now I am in a good place. I feel strong and ready to go."
Miley is likely to return to the bench against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night, with Howe looking to switch back to the three-man selection of Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, and Joelinton. It leaves the likes of Miley, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock looking for cameos.
Howe's take on this has been simple in recent weeks, he said: "We are really stable in midfield. The challenge for you then goes up. It is the same for all of our midfielders. The competition for places is so strong. You have six top players who all want to play, and if I go with that system, I can only pick three."
