Sean Dyche sacked by Everton just hours before FA Cup clash with Peterborough
Sean Dyche has been sacked by Everton just hours before Thursday night's FA Cup clash with Peterborough.
Goodison Park chiefs have decided to wield the axe with the Toffees struggling at the bottom end of the table, just one point above the drop zone. Dyche - who took training as normal this morning - has led the struggling club to just one win in 11 Premier League matches, with his goal-shy side failing to score in eight of those fixtures.
Now owners the Friedkin Group have decided to pull the plug on the ex-Burnley manager's reign in charge, with Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman taking over on an interim basis. A club statement read: "Everton Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as Senior Men’s First Team Manager with immediate effect.

"Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer have also left the Club. The process to appoint a new manager is under way and an update will be provided in due course. Under-18s Head Coach Leighton Baines and Club Captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis."
Dyche leaves Everton 16th in the table with just three wins from 19 league matches this season. Bookmakers have already installed Jose Mourinho as the favourite to replace him at Merseyside. The Special One - currently in charge of Turkish giants Fenerbahce - guided Friedkin Group-owned Roma to Europa Conference League glory in 2022 before being relieved of his duties after two-and-a-half years.
