When do the second College Football Playoffs rankings come out? Date, time, more

The second College Football Playoff Rankings will be released this evening. If committee members stick to their approach from the first rankings, it's not only about how many games you win but how dominant those victories are that will keep you in the CFP conversation.

In the first rankings, the SEC and Big Ten took a majority of the top spots in the projected playoff bracket. This dominance shows the strength of these conferences, schedules and the quality of victories in the season's first 10 weeks. Four SEC teams — Georgia, Texas, Tennessee and Alabama — secured a spot, as did Big Ten schools Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State and Indiana.

The remaining teams in the first 12-team bracket: No. 4 Miami, No. 9 BYU, No. 10 Notre Dame and No. 12 Boise State.

Here's what to know about the second release of the CFP rankings:

Quarterback Quinn Ewers (3) has the Texas Longhorns at No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings.
