Sedbergh & Dent United secured their first win of the season with a 4-3 victory over Lunesdale United.

The win was a much-needed boost for the team sitting bottom of the division one table, with no wins from their first ten games.

The victory was sealed by goals from Alex Fearn, Richard Thexton, and a brace from Nathan Todd.

Robbie Wharton's hat-trick for Lunesdale United was in vain.

"We started fast, produced some decent football in spells and looked in control but we know no game is ever easy and knew Lunesdale would come back at us hard.

"A topsy-turvy second half saw us have control but then throw it away very quickly and we were hanging on a bit at the end as fitness told but the lads just did enough to get our first win of the season."

Despite the victory, Sedbergh & Dent United remain at the bottom of the table but are now only a point behind Lunesdale United in 11th and three points behind Kendal United Reserves, in tenth.

In division two, Carnforth Rangers 'A' and Wetheriggs United Reserves shared the points following a 2-2 draw at Quarry Park.

Jack Joyce and Louis Potter scored for the home side with a Kai Akrigg double earning the point for Wetheriggs.

Shap beat local rivals Kendal County Reserves, despite ending the game with nine men, thanks to goals from Samuel Wood and Luke Fraser.

The win saw Shap move up one place in the table to seventh.

Kendal County Reserves remain in 11th, five points adrift of safety.

In division three, Burneside picked up a much-needed win as they saw off neighbours Windermere Reserves 7-0 at Hollins Lane.

William Cornthwaite, Andrew Gaskarth, Nathan McNeill, Connor Winn, Connor Ansell, and two from Stefan Hall secured the comfortable win.

Burneside still remain in the bottom two but are now level on points with Ambleside Reserves.

Millhead earned a hard-fought win over NJC FC Dynamos at Iodine Park, triumphing by two goals to nil, despite going down to ten men late on after Samuel Conroy was sent off.

It was a win which saw them jump two places in the table, leapfrogging NJC Dynamos in the process, to seventh place.

In division four, both Ibis and Cartmel & District Reserves faltered in their chase for second place.

Ibis were beaten 1-0 away at Brough, while Cartmel & District Reserves were held to a 2-2 draw at Langwathby.

Eden Valley Reserves lost 3-1 at home to Greystoke Reserves to remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

In the High Sheriff's Cup, Penrith Reserves edged out Endmoor KGR 2-1 at Kendal Rugby Club, with Luke Howe and Logan Hope seeing Penrith through.

Joining Penrith in the semi-final will be Kirkoswald who saw off Fellside United 4-1.

Windermere also progressed following a 3-1 win over Kendal United Reserves.

Looking ahead, Sedbergh & Dent United will be hoping to build on their first win as they continue their fight to stay in the division.

Mr Ferguson said: "The season so far has been one of the worst we've had.

"However, we've found a way to stick in and things are looking a little better compared to earlier.

"Hopefully the last few results will give us the confidence to keep picking up points and maybe produce a miracle and stay up.

"We'll give it everything we've got."
