Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has added seven academy players to his squad for this afternoon's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur, including talented striker Chido Obi.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News on Saturday evening, a second coach is understood to have departed from Carrington transporting academy players. Senior stars had earlier been forced to abandon plans to travel by train because of a signalling issue and had to travel to the capital by road instead.

With Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, Toby Collyer and Amad all missing today's game through injury and illness-related issues, United have had promoted Elyh Harrison, Harry Amass, Tyler Fredricson, Jack Fletcher, Sekou Kone, Jack Moorhouse and Obi to the first-team squad, each earning places on the bench.

United's squad has been decimated by injury issues ahead of today's game, meaning Victor Lindelof is the only senior player on the bench. January recruit Ayden Heaven is also on the bench.

Amass, Fletcher and Obi all started for the Under-18s on Wednesday night as they beat Chelsea 5-1 in the FA Youth Cup. Obi is the headline inclusion amid the attention he has earned since joining the club from Arsenal last year. He scored a hat-trick in the FA Youth Cup win in midweek.

The 17-year-old has been the star of United's FA Youth Cup run so far this season, scoring seven goals in just three games.

Meanwhile, young shot-stopper Harrison is on the bench for the first time amid injuries to Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton. The former Chester loanee was pictured training with Andre Onana earlier this week.

United starting XI: Onana; De Ligt, Maguire, Mazraoui; Dorgu, Casemiro, Fernandes; Dalot; Garnacho, Zirkzee, Hojlund.

Substitutes: Harrison, Amass, Fredricson, Heaven, Lindelof, J. Fletcher, Kone, Moorhouse, Obi.
