Manchester United welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon looking to maintain their positive start to 2025.

United backed up a positive draw at league leaders Liverpool and a penalty shootout win over Arsenal in the FA Cup third round by beating Southampton 3-1 at Old Trafford on Thursday.

A dramatic 12-minute hat-trick from Amad Diallo turned the tie around to lift United up to 12th in the Premier League table.

They will begin the weekend nine points adrift of seventh placed Aston Villa and 12 points off the top four, though, and Ruben Amorim is acutely aware they have work to do if they want to play European football next season.

They face a Brighton side who start the weekend in ninth place and are currently five points ahead of United in the table.

United will aim to continue their unbeaten start to the year but they will have to do so without four players. Here's a latest look at the United injury situation.

Luke Shaw

Injury: Hamstring

Expected return date: Late January

What Amorim has said: On January 15, Amorim said: "[Luke] is nearer than Mount. Mason will take a little bit longer. Luke, we'll see in the next week or two. We'll see if he's returning."

Mason Mount

Injury: Thigh

Expected return date: Mid-February

What Amorim has said: Amorim warned Mount would be out for several weeks when he picked up the injury in the win over Man City. He then confirmed earlier this week that he still has a while to go in his recovery.

He said: "[Luke] is nearer than Mount. Mason will take a little bit longer. Luke, we'll see in the next week or two. We'll see if he's returning."

Victor Lindelof

Injury: Muscular

Expected return date: Unknown

What Amorim has said: Speaking last month, Amorim said: "I think he has something we have to assess to say specifically what he has, but it's tough to lose a player."
