Sheffield United climbed to the top of the Championship table after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against a managerless West Brom. The match at Bramall Lane saw first-half goals from Andre Brooks and Karlan Grant, resulting in a share of the points.

United started strong, putting pressure on West Brom and causing several early misplaced passes. This intensity led to the first opportunity when Brooks won the ball back and found Kieffer Moore alone in the box, but his volley went wide.

Brooks was again involved shortly after, with a curled effort narrowly missing the target. West Brom's first chance came via Callum Styles, but his strike lacked conviction after a mazy run.

The Blades broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute when Callum O’Hare cleverly backheeled a pass to Brooks who finished well under keeper Alex Palmer. Josh Maja had an opportunity to equalise minutes later but lost his footing at the crucial moment.

Just after half an hour, Tom Fellows missed a golden chance for the visitors, volleying over from close range after a parried save by Michael Cooper. West Brom continued to press and levelled the score in added time at the end of the first half when United failed to clear their lines and Grant fired a low shot past Cooper from the edge of the box.

Cooper’s outstretched hand prevented the visitors from taking the lead after the restart.

The Blades' goalkeeper courageously intervened between Grant and an open goal. Cooper once again saved the day, deflecting Grant’s shot from the centre of the box.

United's first significant offensive move in the second half came after the hour-mark with a powerful run from Harrison Burrows, but his cutback didn't reach a team-mate. Strong penalty appeals were dismissed after United’s Alfie Gilchrist was brought down in the area.

Tom Davies took a shot from outside the box, but it narrowly missed the post as the Blades started to dominate the half. Further penalty claims were disregarded when O’Hare was knocked to the ground following a quick United counter-attack.

Davies' overhead kick attempt went wide after a long throw-in by Jack Robinson with 20 minutes remaining. Substitute Jed Wallace had a free-kick in a threatening position for the Baggies, but Cooper kept his eye on it.

Brooks was once again involved for the hosts as his cross was blasted over the bar by Rhian Brewster from close range with five minutes left. As the match moved into extra time, both teams pushed but failed to secure a victory.
