For a team sat four points off a play-off place and with so much to play for after making great strides on the pitch this season, you'd think Sheffield Wednesday would be going into tomorrow's match with Leeds United brimming with confidence and excited about the game ahead.

That's not been the overriding feeling among the squad this week it seems after the latest series of comments by the club's owner Dejphon Chansiri. A fans forum on Wednesday evening saw the Owls chairman expose a rift between him and manager Danny Rohl, with Chansiri claiming he had not been given a list o any transfers to make this January and saying there had been no communication between the pair since December.

That was just one of a series of eye-opening comments by the club owner, with a difficult situation brewing for all involved at Hillsborough. It's not an ideal situation ahead of a trip to Elland Road to take on the Championship leaders.

Speaking ahead of the game Owls defender Di'Shon Bernard shed some light on how the players had perceived what had gone on the last few days. " "I am not going to lie. I’d be lying if I said we don’t hear about it (off-the-field tensions). Obviously, we do.

"I wouldn’t say it affects us on the pitch as obviously we are athletes, so we do our job professionally. It’s a tricky thing to navigate. I am not going to bite the hand that feeds me because with the chairman for what he’s done for me personally, I can’t complain, really.

"Whatever happens with him and the fans, it’s a tough one to navigate. But I do feel it is quite tense now.

"It’s weird for me to say because I feel like last year when we were last, it wasn’t that tense. I feel like now it should be a bit more happy and joyful. But I get everyone’s frustration. Frustration from the fans and the chairman’s side. But the chairman is still a human being.

"I think it's a thing where we have to navigate it together and hopefully there can be solutions on both sides in the future.”
